Performed a series of tests calling get/set/ping/zadd methods. Result:

  • Some time is spent in character encoding (UTF-8)
  • Most time is spent in constructing object instances of AbstractFuture and CountdownLatch
  • A smaller amount of time is spent writing (and obtaining a promise) within netty

The async API can issue about 300Kops/sec whereas the sync API performs about 13Kops/sec (GET's, PING's).
Sync performance depends on the Redis performance (tested on a Mac, 2,7 GHz Intel Core i7).
