Issue was originally closed as the reproduction code had a technical mistake. It was correctly setting the internal private field instead of the custom setter field and created a misleading impression that the issue at hand was related to mapTo.

Looking into the issue more, the intended behavior regarding creation of embedded objects and custom setters/getters is a current limitation of embedded objects because of their lack of a constructor when initializing them.

The issue has now been changed to focus on improving the general experience of creating new embedded objects with techniques like custom setter/getters.
