We use this with an API Key and an empty string on the password in a live application today.

In our implementation we have a class that wraps the calls and constructs the HelloSignClient instead of using Ninject to construct it. However, I'm not sure this is related, since your error message mentions the parameter name "name" and the HelloSignClient ctor does not have a parameter with that name.
