htmltojsx has two modes of operation:

  • In browser (uses browser's native DOM operations)
  • Node.js (uses jsdom)

If you want to use Node.js tooling (like webpack) to build the in-browser version, you need to set the IN_BROWSER constant. For example, using Webpack:

        new webpack.DefinePlugin({
          IN_BROWSER: true,
        }),

@Daniel15 I know this is a usage question, and shouldn't be in the Github Issues section (promise to write a blog post about it afterwards to stop other people asking it here), but converter.convert('<p class="hiBen">Hello There Ben</p>') returns a string.

Is there any way for htmltojsx to return valid JSX that I can inject into my React component, or some way to convert the returned string to valid JSX?

The reason I want to do it is because parts of D3 create elements dynamically whose length and values change based on the data (e.g. axes - number of vals/ticks). If I can inject D3 elements into my code via htmltojxs, it would successfully integrate D3 into React in a valid way.

Not at the moment, but it would probably be a nice addition. Currently it uses the visitor pattern to build a string. It could build real React components instead.
