This is an Apple bug. The only workaround is to add LipikaIME manually to the Input Source list. I have updated the installer to instruct the user to do so. You can either download the latest installer and follow the instructions at the end or do the following:

  • Reboot your system; LipikaIME should not be visible
  • Go to System Preferences --> Keyboard --> Input Sources
  • Click on the + button, select LipikaIME and click Add

Going forward LipikaIME should survive reboots / logouts.

Encodings are plain text files under: /Library/Input\ Methods/LipikaIME.app/Contents/Resources/Schemes/.
Transliteration folder has the transliterations and Script has the Unicode mappings. The *.ime files tie these two together. Usually, you should restart your computer for the edits to take effect. Please let me know if you need more help.

Thanks for this.

I want to edit to add some Vedic signs to Devanagari and also make an input scheme for Grantha.

Namaskaram

For your information I tried reinstalling Lipika IME then adding it through the input sources. However you cannot see it to add it UNLESS you enter Lipika in the search field at the bottom of the dialog. Otherwise simply scrolling through the available input methods DOES NOT SHOW IT UP.

I hope this helps. I suggest you mention this in your notice to people at the time of installation.

It is easier for you to create a Google IME canonical schema and drop it into /Library/Input\ Methods/LipikaIME.app/Contents/Resources/Schemes/Google/.
For Grantha you can start with Ambarish's mappings: http://code.ambari.sh/keymap/src.
For Devanagari you can start with any one of these: https://github.com/ratreya/google-ime-scm/tree/master/Schemes/Devanagari.
