I need to clean this up, but this is still WIP. I have a strong desire to keep the number of options allowed in the plot method to be at a minimum. You can achieve what you want by doing this currently.

p1 <- rPlot(mpg ~ wt, data = mtcars, type = 'point', color = 'cyl')
p1$set(legendPosition = 'bottom')

For Polycharts, any of the options that are specified as spec.* can be applied using the set or addParams method. The methods layers, guides and coord allow you to pass parameters into those nested objects, without having to incessantly keep typing nested lists.

Let me know if this works for you.
