Can't you set the key as environment variables? RAILS_MASTER_KEY should work.

I have the same functionality but the Rails version 7.0.4.2 and ruby 3.2.0 all work fine

Thank you for the issue. This seems like some code that you wrote to download those files from S3, we can't guarantee that will work, and we can't support that. You will need to investigate yourself. As for what could be happening, it is possible that require_relative "application" already tried to read the credentials for some reason. So, no matter what you do after, it is already cached. Did you try to move the S3Configurator.new.configure before the require of the application to see if that fixes it?
