Perhaps, if it can be implemented in a clean way. Most likely by modifying the existing lazy highlight code to also collect a list of lines from the buffer, and then stick them in an overlay at the end of the minibuffer. I would be okay with that. I am not planning to implement it, though.

@tinglycraniumplacidly Try consult-line from https://github.com/minad/consult which does exactly that using selectrum :-) See also #39, which is almost the exact converse of this issue :-)

I thought the Swiper comparison was a little harsh too, in particular:

Ask yourself: when was the last time you actually got anything useful out of that overview?

Well, I often use it as a sort of quick index, swiping for func to get a feel for what functions a file defines, for instance. Highlighting a promising line will move the buffer view for further inspection. It's a bit of... A different kind of search?

Swiper has mostly replaced isearch in my workflow, but I hope to bring it back using ctrlf. As quick as swiper is, it's also a bit odd to move your focus from one window to another when it's the same data.

Now I've installed ctrlf, selectrum and consult, I might try adding a pair of "toggle" keys that switches between ctrlf and consult-line without loosing the search term, but their slightly different syntax could be an issue.

Ditto, as mentioned here: #39 (comment)
