r-sig-geo example does not show points about mapview

Edzer,
this is due to the fact that Chrome is rather restrictive with regard to allowing local files to be opened. This should be no problem for firefox users (and other browsers, though we have not tested all of them) and people working with RStudio.
We have added a details section in help(mapview) outlining how to get around this in the develop branch on github.

For your platform there is a solution outlined at the end of this page

Thanks; I can see it with firefox and Rstudio; no success with /usr/bin/google-chrome --allow-access-from-files but I understand where the problem lies.
