I remember trying to fix this too but couldn't figure it before. I can try again though. I think None is what matplotlib might be using for the label for the horizontal black line axhline() plot. maybe forcing the label to just be a " " space could be a hack around it?

@gusgordon re-assigning to you since I can't figure it out. I think what we really want because it would be cleaner, is to not have a legend entry for that axhline() black dashed line. So I think we need to manually re-configure the legend using the legend handles. This area in the matplotlib docs I think is where the process is described, but I just can't figure it out. The handles objects are throwing me for a loop. Can you take another look?
