The problem was never exist actually.
If your test hangs -- it is test's and tested code problem, not testing tool like pytest and pytest-asyncio itself.

Actually @asvetlov is right, it's not the problem of pytest-asyncio, maybe you can check if there is endless loop in your code or io which takes time too long.
