I had a portrait UI in the early versions. I didn't like it because the DPad and the Sega buttons were too close together and it seems really cramped.
Maybe I did it wrong? I'm open to suggestions for portrait layouts and maybe I can put it back sometime in the future, but it's not a high priority for me at the moment.
As for other issues, go ahead, keep them coming.

I personally disagree with landscape even being playable with anything but RPGs, as a lot of the action is covered up. Especially if one is using a 4S. A portrait mode would be a godsend. The d-pad is also far too big and unwieldy. Might I recommend something along the lines of the iOS version of SMT1 as a starting point http://imgur.com/flv5yWK .

I too would love portrait view. Something as simple as this works for me: http://imgur.com/bXqUbi9.
With your the editable controls, maybe you could make it so the user could adjust the size themselves with a pinch to zoom mechanic. Then they can decide how big or small the controls are. I'm not sure how difficult that would be.
I guess you could also them to rotate the controls too so if the buttons would work better for them on a different angle they could do that. Alternatively, maybe let them split the buttons up and place them individually.
Just tossing some ideas your way. Love your work so far.

Yes please portrait mode! As a 6+ user, this would make everything more awesome and more enjoyable. Having the option would be great.

On iPad Air, portrait mode would be Godsend. It will be probably even better since you can dedicated only a fraction of the bottom part of the screen (about 25%) for the controller, and it doesn't "overlap" the game screen area.

Another option for landscape: allow users to resize the GAME SCREEN - this way the controls can stay large enough for those like them big, but not overlap the game. Imagine a smaller game screen positioned in between the D-Pad and face buttons.

Here are some examples of portrait that works. This would make the games a lot more playable

Portrait mode is a must have for the Game Boy mode imho.

It's a good idea

It would be great to have it back in the app. It's more comfortable for some people, plus some games get too covered up by the controls in landscape.
Also, resizable buttons would be great!! They're currently way too small for me.

Minedtiger7's skin for gba4ios worked really well. You can use that as a starting point

Set the app up with some games for my little brother today and he immediately tried to get into portrait mode...

My little brother is still asking me, "When is that guy gonna fix his app?" Asks me like every week, lol. This is a really big deal for a lot of people.

Provenance can now be used in portrait mode. I don't think it's perfect, but let me know if it works for you guys.

You'll need to build it yourself with Xcode. Or bug iEmulators to see if they'll build and host if it for.
from provenance.
Will you build it within the next day or so

I don't distribute Provenance. People either build it themselves or download it from somewhere like iEmulators who build it and sign it for distribution.

Ok can you tell them about the update
