Blacklight will work off of any Solr index, if configured to match your index schema.

In general, getting the stuff into the Solr index is up to you, not something Blacklight does. You can use the 'default' Blacklight Solr schema, but use your own methods to index things to your Solr from any format at all; or you can even change the schema entirely, and change Blacklight's config to match. But Blacklight won't help you get the stuff into the index.

The one exception is that Blacklight includes some limited support for ingesting MARC, a format used by libraries (the kind with books), using a third-party tool, SolrMarc. That's an important case of the original BL developers is why it made it in there, but BL is intended to work with any sort of Solr index, and data coming from any place).

The default Blacklight 'display' code just displays stored fields from Solr, so as long as the data gets into a stored field in Solr, it can be displayed. But it is intentionally easy to write your own local code for display (both search results, and item detail pages if you use em), that may for instance, retrieve a JSON document from a Solr stored field (or an external store or cache) and base display off of that.

So, Blacklight won't do anything special with JSON out of the box (don't even know what JSON-LD is, sorry), but it is designed to allow you to write your own code to use whatever formats you want.

Hope this helps!
