Looks like all dev has stopped on that original Quagga library.

well QuaggaJs says "This is not yet another port of the great zxing library, but more of an extension to it." so if its built on top of zxing maybe they just need to implement the QR Code support of zxing into it since zxing already does it?

Note that there is https://github.com/zxing/zxing and https://github.com/zxing-js/library. quaggaJS linked zxing in their readme, but that may be an error.

With zxing-js you just need a remoteCommand to integrate this into a project. Is that worth creating a component for?

Well if you wanted to you could wrap it all up in a component and the AJAX command would just be part of the component vs custom coding but I will leave that up to you!
