gnome-shell-theme's Issues

Dark Theme - Activities Overview - Search text is dark on dark background.

Reporter info

 * Distribution - Pop!_OS 18.04 LTS

 * Desktop environment - Gnome / Default

Activities Overview w/ Pop-dark-slim

Actual issue
When you go to search in the activities overview using the Pop Slim Dark theme, the text isn't on a useful background and cannot be seen.

Steps to reproduce

  • Choose Pop-dark-slim theme
  • Open Activities Overview
  • Try to search.

Expected behavior

  • Text should be clearly visible.

Behavior in Adwaita

Actual issue
A visual cue does not exist to show when multiple windows of a program are open. In Pop!_OS 17.10 an arrow shows underneath each program that has multiple windows open.

Other Note (feature-request, question, etc...)
While I understand part of this theme is getting rid of the arrows, I think by removing them on this screen, a feature is lost(is a "feature regression" a thing?). I think some sort of cue should exist.

Not Responding dialog has no shadow or background mask

Saw something weird with the new theme today: the Not Responding shell dialog had no shadow at all, and no background mask. This doesn't look great and means it gets somewhat lost in white windows, which is probably not ideal.

Pop theme css causes gnome-shell to litter the system logs

Reporter info

 * Distribution - Pop!_OS 18.10
 * Gtk+ 3.0 version - 3.24.1-1ubuntu2
 * Desktop environment - Gnome
 * Pop version - 4.0.2

Actual issue

The Pop themes cause gnome-shell to litter the system logs with
warnings that "+ combinators are not supported". This appears to be
caused by several + combinators in the theme css bouncing off
gnome-shell's st-theme.c parser around line 794 where it clearly warns
about the + combinators and then ignores them. I'd suspect, as a
result, that some element in the UI is not getting the intended styling.

Steps to reproduce

Use one of the Pop themes with gnome-shell and run journalctl to see
the noisome warning lines.

Actual issue
Because pop-gnome-shell now uses large, lightweight text for shell dialog titles, some dialog titles are truncated.

Expected behavior
Titles are not Truncated.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Work in the terminal until you have a full terminal of text
  2. Click away from the terminal to another app, say Firefox
  3. Click back to the terminal

Expected behavior

The scroll value stays the same and the contents of the terminal doesn't move around.

If this theme update purposefully removes the underline, then perhaps the underline for the clock and user menu should be removed as well. Otherwise Activities should be underlined.

Dark-Slim, Dark and Light-Slim Pop Theme

Actual issue

When you enable Dark Mode or Slim Mode in Settings, the shell theme doesn't change and stays to one that came by default.

Steps to reproduce

Enable Dark Mode and click on the clock located on Top Bar. Enjoy the view.

Expected behavior

When you enable Dark Mode or Slim mode the Shell theme, gtk-theme should change accordingly.

Behavior in Adwaita

Other Note (feature-request, question, etc...)

You can workaround this with "User-Themes" extension for Gnome, but you should download Gnome-Tweaks then change the shell theme manually even if you have said extension installed and it's not noob friendly.

The text color is too dark and not readable

Steps to reproduce
