Your problem is not related to dupSession, but rather that forever, and therefore presenceStream, never returns, so msgStream never gets run.

To achieve your goal you can either :
Run presenceStream and msgStream in parallel and put any data they produce in a Chan or TChan. This has the downside that stanzas might be processed out of order.

Or you can use getStanza / getStanzaChan (I just added them on my fork, I thought they where already there) and select the Stanza types you care about by hand.

dupSession is necessary if you want to handle stanzas in different threads. All it does is duplicate the the channel of incomming stanzas, so one thread can discard e.g. presence stanzas while the other thread still sees them in the channel.
