Yes. This are the auto-save emacs files. polymode does nothing of that kind in the background.
Auto save is also created on regular files but is deleted on save. I think auto-deleteion doesn't work that well with indirect buffers. I have to investigate this more carefully some day, but it is not a high priority right away.

Thanks a lot! Until then, I'll just update my .Rbuildignore and .gitignore files, it's not high priority, indeed.
