Calling matrix.begin() causes Serial1 not work anymore about smartmatrix

Hi Lucas,

I saw your post on PJRC and it looked like Paul was helping you out so I didn't respond. I haven't done any UART work with SmartMatrix. The test on the PJRC forum seemed complicated, I'll try a simpler test and let you know if it works.

I haven't heard from him since beginning of August. Not sure how long he takes to fix those things but I'll try to look into the issue myself and see if I can find what's going on.

I think he would have posted back if he reproduced the error or was working on a fix. He gets a lot of support requests so this may have slipped through the cracks.
