False positives and false negatives about pdfobject

Thanks for the feedback, I haven't encountered those issues, I"ll look into it. For Windows 7, are you running 32 bit or 64 bit? Am I correct in assuming you have Adobe Reader installed on both systems?

My Systems:

Windows7 Professional 64bit, Adobe Reader installed, but Foxit Reader as default application for pdf.
Firefox has two Plugins for pdf:

Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla
File: npFoxitReaderPlugin.dll
Version: 1.0.1.1117
Foxit Reader Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape

Adobe Acrobat
File: nppdf32.dll
Version: 9.3.4.218
Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape "9.3.4"

Opera reports the same, Chrome additionally has the "Chrome PDF Viewer" and has the Adobe Plugin disabled. IE9 is the 64bit version, and I did not find out which plugins are available.

Windows XP

I don't have Adobe Reader installed, but have Foxit 3.3

Firefox reports the following plugin for pdf:

Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla
File: npFoxitReaderPlugin.dll
Version: 1.0.1.1117
Foxit Reader Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape

IE8 uses the Foxit Reader Plugin (Foxit version 3.3.1.0518) to display PDFs inline. After upgrading Foxit to version 5.0, the script error still occurs.

So I guess it's an issue with Foxit as the default PDF reader.

When I view the example http://pdfobject.com/examples/conditional-js-advanced.html with Opera, I get the message "Type of PDF plugin found: Adobe", clicking the link leads to "The PDF was successfully embedded!", but the PDF is not shown.

Let me know if I can provide more information.

Sorry for leaving this hanging for so long. Now that all the browsers (and plugins) in question are clearly outdated, I am closing this issue.
