Hello. I have (had) this issue too. The thing is that gschemas.compiled
and org.gnome.shell.extensions.services-systemd.gschema.xml
must be in schemas
folder, at least that's how other extensions look like. So create schemas
folder and put those 2 files in it.
The developer should know whether this is his fault.

Release 16 works!
from gnome-shell-extension-services-systemd.
Hey, @Craeckie did you manage to get it to work?
from gnome-shell-extension-services-systemd.
Release 16 works, but 17 doesn't reproducably.
Here's the system log when trying to activate it:
gnome-shell[15969]: Some code accessed the property 'PopupServiceItem' on the module 'popupServiceItem'. That property was defined with 'let' or 'const' inside the module. This was previously supported, but is not correct according to the ES6 standard. Any symbols to be exported from a module must be defined with 'var'. The property access will work as previously for the time being, but please fix your code anyway.
gnome-shell[15969]: Extension "[email protected]" had error: Error: Schema org.gnome.shell.extensions.services-systemd could not be found for extension [email protected]. Please check your installation.
gnome-software[16235]: services-systemd_abteil.org has error: Error: Schema org.gnome.shell.extensions.services-systemd could not be found for extension [email protected]. Please check your installation.

from gnome-shell-extension-services-systemd.
I also have gnome-shell version 3.28.3, but Release 17 for 3.24 works for me.
