We have considered adding a trash option in the past but it's not something that we were able to prioritize as it was not a highly requested feature.

Understandable. It still might deserve a little priority bonus, since it is a "nice to have" until it would have prevented people from deleting their work – but then it is too late and they blame themselves. So it might be very useful, though there is never a point when users say they "need this".
