I think the issue is that the syscalls plugin currently uses a hardcoded path of /scratch/syscalls.txt. There was also a bug in the plugin that would cause it to crash if that path didn't exist. I just committed a change:
This should at least cause it to print a sensible error message instead of crashing. In the future we will modify the plugin so that the log file is specified on the command line.
Let me know if creating a writable "/scratch" (or changing the path in qemu/panda_plugins/syscalls/syscalls.c) fixes your issue.
