Once the switch happens, there shouldn't be any bursts because block solutions aren't any larger than normal shares.

Anyway, I want to try to reduce spikes in data instead of limiting it.

Yes, but cant see a pattern. Sometimes it is like every 10mins, sometimes 2-3 hours nothing. I have ~5kb steady data stream, but it spikes to 50kb or more.
Also noticed that when bitcoind dies and pool is dead (cannot mine on it) p2ptraffic becomes huge - 10x more data is sent. If pool is dead anyway, why so much fraffic?

Really irritating when play some RTS :/ Lags like hell/disconnects for few seconds.

Setting bitcoin connections to 11 and p2pool to 6 helps.
Closing, but it can be improved anyway IMO.
