Yeah, applying patches before finalizing an installation is something I'm looking into. It is nontrivial for < 12.2 GI, but I'll fix it eventually.

Do you try to Install GI 12.2?
The problem has been fixed in 12.2 but cannot be backported, because the installation method has been changed in 12.2.
I personally do not test with GI 11.2 anymore.

Hi,
I have a fix for this now. It's in the development branch at the moment (876d007), and will allow for applying patches before root.sh/other config.
Will be merged to master shortly
