I think I understand what you are trying to offer but doesn't make any sense in terms of python inheritance and django abstract models. In other words, "we cannot change our mothers, cause we already exist thanks to our mothers".
I bet is less painful and cheaper rewriting intermediate models than updating all model ancestors.
Maybe swapping proxies may fit your needs?
