There are a few challenges here: 1. The cleanup algorithm is only run once per day so roughly 24 snapshots per subvolume must be deleted. 2. The cleanup algorithm works one the individual subvolume.
This is mainly a btrfs issue, esp. since you have a SSD. You should report it as such.
