I'd like to second this. Ubuntu is also migrating from Upstart to SystemD.

I have added systemd timer files in a pull request, see #59. Feedback would be nice since I have little experience with systemd.
Installing/packaging will follow.

So how about an easier way to test it? Like a configure setting to toggle between systemd integration and cron files?

Looks like there's a difference between the tarballs in ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/snapper/ and the ones here in that the former doesn't include the systemd unit files. How come is that?

The issue I noted in the fourth comment remains, however. I don't see any configure flag to toggle between cron scripts and systemd timers.
