Presumably you think this is a bug in our code rather than a bug in Safari? Is there some particular reason why you think that?

As an additional data point it seems that Chrome agrees with Firefox.

I *did* think that, but after spending a tiny bit more brain cycles on it, it is evident that this is a Safari problem, not an OSM one.

Chrome agrees with Firefox.
And Safari Version 17.1 (19616.2.9.11.7) on macOS 14.1.1 (23B81) agrees with Safari on iOS :)
I'll try to find a way to submit this issue to Apple.
