The error message you posted shows that something is still running on Java 8 (version 52.0).
Since you are sure that your project is set to Java 11, may be your Gradle instance is running under Java 8? Check your IntelliJ Gradle configuration - it has to be set to run under "project's JDK"

I followed that exactly then i got this issue that's why i asked here ..... !!!

I'm not using gradle at all ......
but I check the gradle in settings > build tools there's nothing there
but you are right.... it says java 8 was used to compile and i don't know how to change that.

what should i set the project language level ?

I would suggest to use either Gradle or Maven. This will greatly simplify the whole process, starting from dependency management all the way to release.
