This may be what was being fixed in:

The uncommented lines should still be there, and getting rid of the margin-bottom uncomment still fixes it for me, though it makes several alerts appearing beneath eachother break (see the style page when you've uncommented that). It seems a bit hackish to me, and I think has to do with how the hero page is set up.

so in alert.scss:

I'll look at a better solution for the hero page and the positioning of alerts.
