Trying to implement this script in the next iteration

@tdurand do you have any tipps on how to setup the hotspot?
I tried the install guide from the readme.md and several other guides but none of them are working properly.
Did you install any other packages or modified some conf files?
from opendatacam.
I remember I've struggled a lot, but what I did in the README worked for me: https://github.com/moovel/lab-open-data-cam#2-configure-ubuntu-to-turn-the-jetson-into-a-wifi-access-point
Maybe I let something undocumented which is kind of possible.... Did you do exactly all the steps?, I do modify some obscure config file in that setup...
Maybe your issue is that the jetson is configured to connect to the moovel wifi , you should remove that connection and only have the hotspot enabled ?
from opendatacam.
by re-reading the README, I remember this obscure config settings that pretty magical and hard to find: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/910608/jetson-tx1/setting-up-wifi-access-point-on-tx1/post/4786912/#4786912
from opendatacam.
I was following the guide step by step.
The SSID gets broadcasted properly but I have trouble connecting to it. When I set it up with a WPA2 passphrase it will refuse the connection bc "the password is invalid" (tripple checked that, they match) without password it won't connect either.
At the moment, the board is connected via cable to the network.
Do you know which version of ubuntu you used during dev?
from opendatacam.
Yep for the ethernet cable it's how I work with the jetson too.. The jetson works on Ubuntu 16.04.
I'm sure you did follow, maybe there is some obscure settings that I forgot to mention but I can't remember any and I remember carefully writing down the things as it was pretty hard to set-up... Not sure how to help you further, the only thing I could do is re-format my jetson and see if I can setup from scratch again and find the missing step....
Or maybe you can try to set up yours from scratch, sometimes it helps... Let me know! And I feel you pain I think I've spent half day configuring the hotspot mode...
from opendatacam.
After you set up the access point, where you able to connect to the access point or did you access the board via the cable connection?
from opendatacam.
Yes, the hotspot is working for me, I can just power up the jetson and connect to his wifi from my phone and open the app. (without having the jetson connected to a local network via ethernet cable)
from opendatacam.
could you send me an image of the current installation? Then I could debug the existing conf on the board here
from opendatacam.
I could, but I do not know how to do that, could you point me a good ressource ?
How will you be able to compare both ? Sounds interesting
from opendatacam.
You could use this instructions for creating a backup https://elinux.org/Jetson/TX2_Cloning
Then I could restore it on our board and check the config.
from opendatacam.
Ok, I'll try later today, you won't have it before tomorrow if I succeed.
from opendatacam.
Hey @tdurand, ...so apparently our office building is so super secure that we can't create access points within or something is jamming the signal.
I tried it at home and it works "out of the box". 😩😅
So no need to create an image and send it to me. 😄 ..but thanks for the support!! 👍
from opendatacam.
Ahhh, I feel your pain.... great to know that it works ! Thanks for the ping I was gonna jump into that and it's good to know that it's not needed !
