Another possible solution:
- Add a "copy component to clipboard" feature, same as you would in the file editor.

In a similiar but different scenario. I have a need to be able to use a component multiple times on the same page. However when doing so any additional instances of the same component on a page inherit the properties of the first component placed on the page.
if this should be a separate issue I can open one with more detail.
