Migrate Prestashop connector to v8 about connector-prestashop

Hi we have 2 customers interested by prestashop connector on v8 version, we will start to work on it in January. But I think we will need help. This connector still not have the same quality as the magento one (we didn't do any funding on it).
It will be great if we can do some clean and integrate a maximun of unit testing. The best way to sucess in having a such great connector will to have a maximun of contribution in code or money. (I prefers code, because it's increase the number of contributor).

Who is interessed in contributing?
Some of you are interrested by doing a code sprint on the connector? (we can do a remote and physical code sprint)

We are in a hurry, because we need a working v8 environment with the connector to the end of this year, so we are going to start with a migration as is, repairing bugs, and changing the use of product attributes from community to the core attributes of v8. If you think we can make a code sprint very soon (next week, or at maximum, the other one), we can put 2 resources (me and Joaquin) on that task.

Just to know for the catalog do you plan to manage it from Odoo and then export it in Prestashop? Or do you will manage the catalog in Prestashop and then import it in Odoo? If you plan to manage the catalog from Odoo, do you need to support the variant?

The idea is to change the catalog to support new v8 variants, but initially not to export Odoo > Prestashop. Only Prestashop > Odoo. In a second phase on 2015, we want to do it the contrary also.

Hi Pedro, really sorry for the delay (crazy planning here). Unlucky we will be not able to work on the prestashop connector before end of January.
We will try to do our best to review all of your merge proposal (do not hesitate to send us a private mail to review your code as soon as possible).
Regarding the catalog management I think it's a good idea to do it in two step. Indeed exporting product from Odoo to Prestashop will need more extra work, and it's better to focus on other more strategical point.
For managing the variant the actual version have a really simple way to support it (the customer had a restricted budget so this was better than nothing), basically each combinaison of prestashop was imported as a simple product in Odoo (a link was stored between the combinaison and the main product). This should be totaly refactored as we can use the native variant of Odoo 8 and directly import product combinaison as variant.

If you need a simple setup of prestashop you can use the vagrant recipe here https://github.com/akretion/ak-prestashop (note : I hope that I will have the time soon to propose a alternative using docker)

We are refactoring one dependency module (product_images), but we are still working on it and we will get results soon. Stay tuned.

In some months I'm going to migrate a Virtuemart shop to Prestashop and then make it multi-site and connecting it to odoo v8 (multi company). So if you need someone to test the connector I can give some feedback.
