Hi, keyboard support will be added in 1.9 (or 1.8.5) update, but it will be realized in the same way as in your example. So if it is not working on Linux, then probably there is a bug there or some other problem.

Native support for navigation with keyboard arrows already available in "dev" version. Add
keyboardControl:true in initialization parameters
