I put the comment so that the collaborators don't need to go through the code to find the assertion, it's just for reference.

@RedYetiDev Thank you for asking. The issue was happening due to how NodeJS and cosmiconfig managing/handling the case of imported/required modules. The solution was to use cosmisconfig to read the configuration file, rather than importing the configuration file directly.
