@OpesanyaAdebayo yes my bad! I did mean 6th of April. Updated.

Hello @benjcal, the mentorship programme is designed in a mentee-driven way. We have different mentors on different scopes, in other words, you decide what you want to learn and gain from the programme and a mentor is assigned to you, that will be able to deliver your expectations.

@csantanapr enjoy your vacation, hope to see you on the next one

@Bamieh I'm interested in what our agenda items are for this meeting. Specifically, it would be good to define a path for making applied mentors into finalized mentors per the discussion we had with @dshaw and @hollomancer last meeting 👍

@mrm8488 Hello 😃 Happy birthday! Sounds good.

As I realised the UTC above was not accurate. ;) For this reason we are one hour late.
It should be UTC Fri 06-April-2018 16:00 (04:00 PM)

@amineorion @zoltan-nz this is solely my fault, the timezones and daylight savings are confusing me more than they should, hopefully next time we'll see you and I'll have the table setup correctly.

@benjcal hey Benjamin
As @codeekage said, if this is what you are looking for during the mentorship from your mentor, we will match based on your goals.
A mento's role is to provide guidance and share personal experiences, rather than teach. Choosing to be a mentor is based mainly on which side you want to be at. However, a mentor should have knowledge with the nodejs ecosystem to be able to provide that guidance to the mentee. For example, I can be a mentor with no cpp knowledge, yet if my mentee asks me about the C++ files i should be able to provide context and show them where to get answers on their question (ie ask someone on the mentorship channel with cpp knowledge, suggest to open an issue, give them a name of a person to ask, or a blog etc)

@Bamieh issue title contains wrong date :)

I'm afraid I won't be able to make it - I'm hosting a family dinner at that exact time. I'd hate for this to delay starting the mentorship program though - what can I do instead of attending the meeting?

I’m traveling on vacation this Friday, I will make it to the next one.

@configurator we will have meeting minutes and it will be recorded on youtube. Please join the nodeslackers slack and join the #mentorship channel

So I our meeting generator didn't take into account Daylight savings time when generating the times above.
The top of your chart claims 17:00 UTC and has Eastern at 12:00 EST (UTC - 5) not 13:00 EDT (UTC -4). To further confuse matters the Calendar is set for 9:00 PDT (UTC -7) a.k.a 16:00 UTC.
Yay timezones 🎉
Is the above time in UTC correct?

@MylesBorins I am so confused!! The meeting should be after 2 hours from now

@MylesBorins hopefully the next meetings we will have this arranged for sure. @dshaw didn't reply yet so this couldn't have been done for this meeting.

I'm having an issue with Zoom. Sorry for the delay.

is the meeting begin now ?

oh ok, well hope it could be more accurate next time :)

@Bamieh ok thanks, looking forward to that

I thought it'd 9th April so, I missed, is there anyway to find recorded session ?

@Bamieh, as mail content I thought it's 9th April so, I missed, is there anyway to find recorded session?

From the meeting notes:
The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, 2018-02-09 at 17:00 UTC / noon ET / 11am CT / 9am PT.
Umm... Firstly, that's way in the past. Second, are meetings always going to be on Fridays?
from mentorship.
@configurator thank you, it should be fixed now. Currently the meetings happen on Fridays every 2 weeks. This project is highly diverse so I understand that one time for all the meetings might not be the best approach. It is very likely for us to setup different meetings with different timings in the future.

I have a question... I applied to be a mentee in the program but while looking at the meeting notes and the qualifications of the mentors I wonder if I should have applied to be a mentor instead. I'm NOT trying to disqualify any of the mentors, not at all, maybe I had my expectations wrong. Anyways, I guess the question is, where's the line between the mentors skills and the mentees? I had thought that with my mentor we'd take a look at V8 and the C files for Node.js API and after some reading and research work together on my first node
issue...
Maybe I just had my expectation wrong?
