I think the browser simply isn't reading any data from the socket while it is still uploading. Either way, if you leave the page where an upload happens, the upload is killed, so that wouldn't help you either. The way to go is to post your upload to a hidden iframe. Here is an example how we do this in Transloadit:

cool ill give that a go. I was hoping this technique would work since it would be so simple, oh well :)
