Templates for full folder structures about server

@artonge @karlitschek As we discussed it in the last planing meeting and decided that it is low priority.

I just checked the Airbus tender with @Rello .

The exact question:

Configurable templates for the creation of new workspaces including content and permissions; capability to create a template from an existing workspace

Our answer so far:

[Not Compliant] When administrator are requested to create a new workspace, they can either copy a directory/file structure from a template folder, or use the standard APIs to automate the provision of the workspace with what is needed.

So we argue with the exact same workaround we discussed in the planing meeting. But maybe Airbus would be a good reason to re-consider the importance of the feature?

Aren't permissions carried over too when duplicating a folder in Files?
Also by "Workspaces" do they just mean files, or do they mean more of a project-like environment with talk conversation, calendar, team and so forth?

I'm not grasping what exactly they're missing from the suggested workaround. It seems to me that what they want is a button that duplicates and renames a folder.

I see "Workspaces" - if at all - related to Group Folders. they can not be copied (incl auth & co).
I fear the customer expects "workspace" like a work environment as @marcoambrosini mentioned. like Sharepoint Sites e.g.
