Even if the attribute name does not match the corresponding attribute for metrics being reported by nri-kubernetes, we will not change the current behavior. We would need to change the default behavior, introducing a breaking change.

As an alternative, we would rather recommend using [New Relic's prometheus agent|https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/infrastructure/prometheus-integrations/install-configure-prometheus-agent/install-prometheus-agent/], instead. There, the pod's metrics are decorated using the "pod" attribute, but this behavior can be easily changed using prometheus' relabel rules.
