This is correct. XML writer in the master branch is not entirely functional. Fortunately, I've finished it in my writer branch, and I'm going to release it soon, in the next few days, most likely. At the moment you can try using git dependency on the latest commit in the writer branch.

I've merged writer branch in master and released 0.2.0, indentation should work correctly there.
