Yeah this is an artifact of my original intent which was to use RABL as a way to expose ORM objects for my APIs. I have no doubt that RABL could be extracted to allow descriptions of arbitrary Ruby objects. Enabling such functionality isn't high on my priority list, but patches are welcome and I am not against the feature if anybody reads this and wants to take a stab at it.
