respond_with(:error) renders view still about rabl

What if you were to do:

if @tour.nil?
  render :json => "not found", :status => :not_found
else
end

in contrast? Not used the respond_with(:error) syntax before

Hum.. I tried this and I when doing .... http://tour_builder.dev/api/tours/1.json

I get a "file not found" thats interesting...

Maybe render :json => "Tour not found", :status => :bad_request

This works.
render :json => {:error => "The document you are looking for is not found."}.to_json, :status => :not_found
