Hello, and thanks for the feedback!

Unfortunately, Huawei's version of Android has some extreme battery-saving measures that can prevent app notifications by default. I'd recommend trying the steps described at https://dontkillmyapp.com/huawei#user-solution to enable manually managing EMUI "App Launch", and then turn on the switches to allow Cuppa to run in the background. Hopefully that will help.

As for the notification sound, you have the ability to change that in your device settings! :) On Cuppa's Preferences screen, scroll to the bottom and tap the "Open your device's system settings to configure notifications for Cuppa" link, which should take you straight to the notification settings screen. Once there, tap "Timer notifications", where one of the many options will be to choose a sound.

Please try the above suggestions and let me know if this resolves the issues.

Hello,
I know about Huawei extreme battery-saving measures, but it seems to be ok.

And about notifications, I tried "Open your device's system settings to configure notifications for Cuppa" link, but there's just on/off. Now I see it's possible to set sounds only from Android settings. Bellow you can see screenshots.

I can confirm the notification issue for a Fairphone 4, still on Android 11. If the screen is off, there is no notification. It comes up at the next switch on. There is a possibility to prevent the screen to switch off, because other apps offer this setting and it works (for example army knife by digital & dreams).

Thank you both for the additional details! While I was aware that notifications on Huawei devices could be problematic (see also issue #72), this is new information about Fairphone acting similarly. For this reason, I agree it is a good idea to keep the screen on while there is an active tea timer. That's an easy adjustment for me to make.

I believe you can tap the words "Upozornění časovače" on the first screen to get to the second screen. It works like that on stock Android, anyway. I wish Google would make that more intuitive.

The latest release of Cuppa enables a device wakelock while tea timer(s) are active. I'm curious to hear if this helps with notification reliability on your phones -- I hope so. Let me know!

When I reported it I can't but now it works as you said. Notifications seems to work for me too, with display on and display off too. Thank!

I'm really glad to hear that notifications are working better now. Thanks to both of you for reporting this problem!
