NATS client has a little internal buffer of messages so if you exit - or as here reach the end of your code - immediately after publishing the buffer might be lost.

call conn.Flush() and I bet it will work too instead of stream.State(), and if that works then this is why. You can do like:

err := jsm.Connect("localhost")
if err != nil { panic(err) }
conn := jsm.Connection()
defer conn.Close()

// rest of your code

this should also avoid the problem I think. jsm.Connect is a bit grim and should probably just return the nc as a parameter too

Ok that was the problem because defering conn.Close() works as well.
I should care much about closing/flushing connections and buffers :)
