any hints how to install and run without phar ?
Solved.

It looks like GitHub did away with downloads. You can create the .phar yourself by cloning the repo and running build
git clone https://github.com/nategood/httpful.git
cd httpful
./build
The httpful.phar should then appear in that directory. You can also use composer to install Httpful. See the README or the website for more info on composer.
