This is a really good idea — I often use the OS X menu-item search under the Help menu for things like finding menu items in Photoshop, but it'd be nicer to have it in spotlight. Do you have a link to the PyObjc script you're using? I can try to debug it.

I started out using https://github.com/pyatom/pyatom, which makes the script itself fairly short, but got a fairly ugly duckling since it requires a C extension (which seems to be overkill just to get at the current menu bar). I started trying to get rid of that dependency, but have nothing usable at the moment.

I also meant to check the source for the original Quicksilver extension, but life got in the way...

I built a Search Menu Items plugin recently — it works alright. It uses applescript, although pyatom could probably give a substantial speed boost, if I could get it working in a plugin environment.
