If you are willing to switch from McAfee to Avira, there is a documented fix for Avira here
#52
There should be an analogous process for McAfee. Windows Defender might be more challenging.

I reported the false positive to McAfee in the Autumn, but it remains unresolved unfortunately as far as I can see. I would be grateful if you can report the false positive to McAfee yourself as well in the hope this to McAfee fixing this sooner (see https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/articleview?articleId=TS103032)
It looks to me like Windows Defender is fixed, but please report the false positive Microsoft if not (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission)

For what it's worth, the Avira fix still works as of a few weeks ago where I had to use it on another computer.

For those who are using AVG Free, here is the way to add an exception. I can confirm I fixed this issue with AVG on Windows 10. Change the folder name as appropriate. https://wiki.nus.edu.sg/display/DA/Add+folder+exclusion+-+AVG+AntiVirus+Free
