The DepthMaterial alone requires drawing the whole scene twice. Using bitmap draws, that would decrease the performance by 90% at least.
Then, sorting every pixel... maybe using some hackery blend mode would also require, either lose alpha channel, or just get the same artefacts we have now.
The idea sounds great, but some code that proves this is actually doable rather than just an abstract idea would be appreciated.

Some flash 3d engines implemented what they call "dynamic BSP" for properly handling sorting and intersection of 3d objects with a vector based graphics API (<canvas>/flash):
