Installation Instructions

  1. Download the MusicPlayer.jar file from the releases directory in the repository.

  2. Create a directory in your computer to store the JAR file. When the app runs for the first time, it will create an img directory and a library.xml file to store song data in the directory where the JAR is located.

  3. NOTE: THIS STEP IS ONLY NEEDED ON WINDOWS. Download the JIntellitype.dll file from the releases directory and place it in the directory created in Step 2. This file is required by the jintellitype library to enable media key functionality on keyboards. The app will not start properly if the JIntellitype.dll file is not in the same directory as the MusicPlayer.jar file.

  4. Run the app by double-clicking the MusicPlayer.jar file.

(OPTIONAL)

  1. Create a desktop shortcut for MusicPlayer.jar.

  2. Download MusicPlayer_Icon.ico from the releases directory and set it as the icon for the desktop shortcut.

Supported File Types

MusicPlayer supports the following file types:

// MP3
case "mp3":

musicplayer's Issues

Memory leak in loading subView fxml

Multiple previously loaded subView fxml nodes can't be garbage collected because of references to a Song object or other observer bindings. I would suggest to change all bindings to weak invalidation listener or just cache/reuse the fxml nodes and update the table model items.
Cheers, Joerg

Running on Linux?

Hi, I am really interested in your project. However I am a linux user and it seems like it does not support Linux platform. What is the problem that stops it from running on linux?

it can't run

Excuse me ,after i double-clicked the jar file and import my music library,it doesn't skip and still

stay in this interface, what's wrong with it?

ac

Still add folder when song have not content.

I have used your app, so good, but one thing make me uncomfortable. My list song haven't content, no title, no album, no artist. So, i can't run your app when i imported my list song.
That's reason. So i recommend you edit your app. Still add songs when it have no content, and if songs have no content, just get it in album "differrent", artist "none", and title just get name file if it have no title.

Program exits without warning

When the music library folder's name is changed the application quits on start. I'm guessing it's because it can't find the folder with the original name

App doesn't start

Jar File: releases/MusicPlayer_v1.1.jar
OS: Mac (OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.5)
Java: Java 1.8.0 (Build 1.8.0-b132).

App doesn't load and only splash screen stays.

Warning message shown in terminal:

2016-06-17 08:43:45.747 java[17421:403574] 08:43:45.747 WARNING: 140:
This application, or a library it uses, is using the deprecated Carbon Component
Manager for hosting Audio Units. Support for this will be removed in a future release.
Also, this makes the host incompatible with version 3 audio units. Please transition
to the API's in AudioComponent.h

Note: Previous version MusicPlayer_v1.0.2.jar works fine without any issues.

It doesn't run on OS X

MusicPlayer doesn't run on OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

Files without title, artist, album are not added to library

<song> <id>81</id> <title/> <artist/> <album/> <length>342</length> <trackNumber>0</trackNumber> <discNumber>0</discNumber> <playCount>0</playCount> <playDate>2016-07-19T22:01:24.268</playDate> <location>/Users/nick/Dropbox/Music/Bon Iver/Bon Iver Eaux Claires Concert/Blindsided.mp3</location> </song>

I have many song files that are like this one. They don't have any metadata from iTunes or other media players. The MusicPlayer app puts them in the library.xml but they do not appear in the GUI to play
