If you want to convert erb devise templates to slim I'm all for it, provide a pull request and I'll merge it.

I don't understand what you want to do with number 2, can you elaborate?

I don't think there is the one right way. It rather depends on the situation, e.g. some apps will benefit from having angularjs in asset pipeline others will use yeoman. Some will benefit from using devise views, others would do authentication fully in SPA. Etc.
